PLEASE NOTE: Lowther's Hill Cemetery, aka Montrose Cemetery, is the resting place of many war heros from both the Confederate and Revolutionary Wars including Major Lide, who was Francis Marion’s second in command during the Revolutionary War. Thomas E. Hart, the founder of Hartsville, SC is also buried there. Please respect this cemetery for what it is...the final resting place of many of the first settlers from our area, our ancestors.

Make sure you get permission before you go there or you can be arrested for trespassing. A group called the Cashua Ferry Organization of Old Timers, aka "COOTS", who's dedicatication to bettering the community of Darlington has taken on the responsibilty of cleaning up and restoring Lowther's Hill Cemetery.

Let's work together to stop the senseless partying and destruction that has been going on up there. Report any activity that seems suspicious to the local law enforcement.
